Why won't my MZ-1 connect?

Follow these basic troubleshooting steps get your MZ-1 tracking your effort.

Troubleshooting Guide for the MZ-1

If you notice your belt's reading of your heart rate drop low, drop to 0%, freeze, or "search," this indicates the belt is struggling to keep an accurate reading of your heart rate.

1. BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Moisten the black sensors on the inside of the red strap and ensure that it has direct skin contact. Most people wear the belt with the module in the center of their chest, but if you are having trouble, rotate the strap so that the black module is positioned to the left or on your back. Many people do find better connection here!

2. SNUG IS BEST

The belt should be tight enough that it does not shift with movement, but not to the point of discomfort.

3. CHECK YOUR BATTERY LEVEL

You can view your current battery level by selecting  AppBatteryIcon  at the top of your app. You will also receive a pop-up notification in the app when it drops below 20% (please enable notifications for Myzone to receive this message).

The MZ-1 uses a 5V coin battery. Twist the battery cover off the back of your module (a coin works great for this!) and insert a new battery. Please note these are not sold by Myzone but are easy to find at most stores.

4. KEEP IT CLEAN

Salt build-up on your strap can cause performance issues and shorten the life of your strap. Remember to rinse your strap after each workout, and wash regularly per our guidelines: How Do I Wash my Myzone Belt?

5. TEST IT

If these steps do not help, test the module on a different strap to determine which piece
is the faulty component, and remember your black module comes with a 12-month warranty (contact Support to determine if you are eligible).

6. REPLACING YOUR RED STRAP

Sooner or later, just like the rest of your workout gear, your strap will need replacing. Generally, you will need to replace your strap after 9-12 months of use. This is just a guide and depends on how often you wear your belt, how hard you train and whether you regularly swap it with spares.

When the time comes to say goodbye to your trusty workout companion, simply head to buy.myzone.org to order a new strap and keep your MEP count growing!
