Why Won't my Chest Strap Turn On?

Follow these troubleshooting steps to get your Myzone chest strap back to tracking your effort seamlessly. This applies to the MZ-3, MZ-1 and MZ-Switch models.

If your belt's heart rate reading drops, freezes, or shows "searching," it indicates the belt is struggling to keep an accurate reading and this guide if for you. If it won't connect to the app, start by ensuring your phone's Bluetooth is turned on and follow our app troubleshooting guidelines

Troubleshoot

1. Before You Begin

  • Confirm Device ID - Ensure your device ID is correctly entered in the app by selecting the battery icon in the top-right corner.
  • Moisten the black sensors on the inside of the red strap and ensure they have direct skin contact.
  • Most people wear the belt with the module in the center of their chest. If you’re having trouble, try rotating the strap so the black module is positioned to the left or on your back. Many people find a better connection this way.

2. Snug is Best

The belt should be tight enough that it doesn't shift with movement, but not so tight that it causes discomfort.

 

3. Check Your Battery Level

  • View your current battery level by selecting the battery icon AppBatteryIcon at the top of your app. You'll also receive a pop-up notification when the battery drops below 20%. Ensure notifications for Myzone are enabled.
  • Avoid overcharging. Charging too often, for too long, or using a wall outlet can damage the battery. Follow our charging guidelines to keep your module working as long as possible.

4. Keep It Clean

  • Salt build-up can cause performance issues and shorten the life of your strap. Rinse your strap after each workout and wash it regularly according to our cleaning guidelines.

5. Test It

  • If the above steps don't help, test the module with a different strap to determine if the module or the strap is faulty. Your black module comes with a 12-month warranty.

6. Replacing Your Red Strap

  • Over time, like any workout gear, your strap will need replacing. Generally, replace your strap after 9-12 months of use, depending on usage and care.
