Resting Heart Rate FAQs

Myzone uses a default Resting Heart Rate of 100 beats per minute. This adjusts as the belt observes you maintaining lower heart rates. We use your Max Heart Rate, not RHR, to calculate your zones.

What is it?

Your resting heart rate (RHR) is when your heart pumps the lowest amount of blood you need when you are not exercising. If you are sitting or lying and are calm, relaxed, and aren’t ill, your heart rate is normally between 60 and 100 beats per minute (American Heart Association https://www.heart.org/en).

How is it calculated?

When you first register your Myzone belt, your RHR default setting is 100 beats per minute. As you use the belt, your RHR will change which is normal. Each time the belt observes you maintaining a lower heart rate than your current RHR setting, it will automatically lower your RHR down to the new value in your Myzone profile.

Your Effort Zones are determined by your Max HR, not your Resting HR.

Although, as you continue your fitness journey you might observe your RHR will decrease which is an indicator of a healthy heart. 💖

How can I make sure my account has an RHR?

Since the RHR metric is your module's lowest recorded heart rate, you can wear the belt when you are laying down or sleeping for at least 10 minutes to record a Myzone workout. If your belt detects a RHR change, your account will automatically update.

Note: your RHR will not auto-calibrate to lower than 40 beats per minute.
